Summer Blockbuster
Creative Writing & Public Speaking Through Movie-Making
June 24 – July 19 (Mon – Fri)
Morning: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm $100/week
Afternoon: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm $100/week
Climb into the director’s seat and get ready for a fun-filled summer program that will explore the art of the written and spoken word through the theme of creative movie-making. In this session, students will focus on the genres of narrative and persuasive writing as they create their own script and screenplay. They will learn to express themselves creatively while gaining an understanding of character and plot development, proper selection of a musical score, sound effects, and may even learn to write their own song. While collaborating to create a movie trailer, students will tackle multiple aspects of writing, public speaking, and acting. For inspiration, students will have special guest visits from professional voice-over artists and industry insiders, who will share their experiences in Hollywood and the importance of writing.
Summer Blockbuster: The Sequel
Academic Writing & Research Skills Through Movie-Making
July 22 – August 16 (Mon-Fri)
Morning: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm $100/week
Afternoon: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm $100/week
Ready for an adventure? Students will embark on a journey of exploration as they compile data and research to create a non-fiction, original documentary. This session is the sequel to our Summer Blockbuster and will focus on the writing genres: expository, descriptive, and research reports. Students will practice the essential life skills of written and verbal communication while learning to thoroughly research, gather facts, interview, edit, and provide effective arguments and solid supporting details. Join us on-location at Dreamworks, Disney, or various other venues to gain greater insight into factual film-making.
ESL/ELD SUMMER WRITING PROGRAMS

ESL Intensive English Workshop
English skills for middle and high school ELD students
Session 1: June 24 – July 18 (Mon-Thurs)
Session 2: July 22 – August 15 (Mon-Thurs)
9:00 am – 12:00 pm $100/week
If English is your second or third language, and you want to improve your English skills, this class is for you! This is an intensive program that will focus on all areas of English language, such as: reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening. There will be extra emphasis on writing and the process of composition by guiding the students through writing strong sentences, paragraphs, and essays. We will tackle the different genres such as narrative, persuasive, and expository. Through the writing process, the students will build up their vocabulary, organizational skills, and grammar. Take advantage of summer to get ahead in your English studies. Study hard and be prepared for the new school year.

TOEFL Practice Testing Services: Not sure if you’re ready for the TOEFL? Language Transit offers practice testing services that utilize actual ETS TOEFL practice tests. All TOEFL test results are sent to ETS for grading and a full evaluation of your performance will be provided.
